The inter-departmental mega cricket tournament organized by Jindal Officer Club (JOC) of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) concluded last evening under flood-light. Team DareDevil, comprising players from the Security department won the Panther Champion Trophy by defeating team Spartans that consists of the best players from Plate Mill, Bar Mill, SSD and TSD by 6 runs in an exciting final match. Mr. Bimlendra Jha, Managing Director of JSP graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented the trophies in presence of Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, CEO-Steel Business; Mr. Hridayeshwar Jha, Executive Director In-Charge, Angul; Mr. Damodar Mittal, Executive Director Iron Zone; Mr. Ravi Shankar, General Secretary JOC; various other HoDs of different departments, employees, cricket lovers from Jindal Nagar Township and periphery villages.
After winning the toss, team Spartans decided to field first and in return team Dare Devil made only 50 runs in the stipulated 10 overs by losing their 9 wickets. Chasing the target of 51 to win the tournament, Spartans managed to make only 44 runs by losing their 5 wickets and lost the championship trophy by just 6 runs.
Nitesh Banjara of team Dare Devils was declared Player of the Match for picking 2 wickets in 2 overs by giving only 5 runs, whereas Bapun Sahu of Dare Devils was declared Player of the tournament for making 137 runs in 6 matches, Dibyaranjan Pradhan of team Spartans won the best Batsman title for making 139 runs in 6 matches and Prateek of team Xtreme was declared Best Bowler of the tournament for taking 10 wickets in 5 matches.
10 teams participated in this Panther Cricfest 22 that started on 10th Dec, and 20 league matches were played in the tournament.
