73rd Independence Day was celebrated at NTPC

Talcher Kaniha on 15th August,2019 with patriotic fervour. Shri Ramesh Babu V ,Executive Director hoisted the national flag at Ambedkar Stadium of the township. Shri Ramesh in his address recalled the contributions of freedom fighters for their contribution and sacrifices made for making our country independent.
“NTPC currently has installed capacity of 55,786 MW. NTPC generated 274.45  billion units in FY 2018-19 with increase of 3.26% in power generation. As a commitment to generate green power ,NTPC during this period generated 1536 million units of renewable power. In the current fiscal year till now , NTPC generated 76.63 Billion units”  said Shri Ramesh.
Speaking on NTPC Kaniha in the current fiscal year i.e 2019-20 (From April 1 to August 12,2019), the station generated 7416 million units with PLF of 76.87%  shared Executive Director. Currently the station is implementing installation of 300 kwp rooftop solar power at its township and school building complexes to promote renewable energy.
As part of ash utilisation , the station is supply ash to NHAI and manufactured ash bricks which were used for various CSR construction activities.Till date the station has planted more than 14 lakhs trees to promote greenery . This fiscal year the station plans to plant 50000 saplings in association with OFDC. On station CSR front, Shri Ramesh shared about recent implemented Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM) and Fani cyclone assistance by NTPC.  

In order to encourage excellence in work by employees, Executive Director Talcher Kaniha in presence of other senior officials awarded employees with the meritorious award, power excel awards, manyavita award for their excellent performance.
To celebrate the day, NTPC Kaniha in association with ladies’ club “Tanvi Sangam under CSR distributed bicycles to meritorious Girl students & furniture items  to Munda Hutting School ,Kaniha. The materials were distributed by Smt Vani V , President, Tanvi Sangam in presence of executive members of the club.
Representatives from unions, executive, associations, CISF personnel, school children, employees with their family members were present in large numbers to celebrate the day. Mass Parade by CISF ,private security personnel & school children was held but the highlight of the day was cultural dance programme  by bal bhawan  and school children .Later prizes were given to winners and runners -up.
