The foundation day of NTPC Kaniha was celebrated on Sunday. NTPC Talcher Super Thermal Power Station,Kaniha completed 30 years of journey on June 2 2019.
On the same day the foundation stone of the NTPC Kaniha ,2nd largest power station was laid by The then Prime Minister,Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The station has never looked back since then.The station was dedicated to the Nation by Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh on August 28, 2006.
On the occasion, Shri Ramesh Babu V ,Chief General Manager(CGM) hoisted the NTPC flag at Administrative Building in presence of senior officials & union & association & CISF personnel to commemorate the special day. Later in the evening a cultural evening program as part of celebration.The programme was inaugurated by CGM and President, Vani V ,President,Tanvi Sangam .Speaking on the occasion ,Shri Rambabu said “ at present, Maharatna NTPC has an installed capacity of 55,125 MW comprising of 52 NTPC stations with 11 renewable energy projects.
“NTPC group recorded a gross generation of 305.90 BU during 2018-19, as against 294.27 BU in the previous year thereby registering anincreasing of 3.95%. This is the 26th consecutive year of dividend payment by the Company.NTPC plans to generate 310 Billion Units (BU) of electricity for the year 2019-20, as per the MoU signed with the Power Ministry.It aims 10.4 million Metric Tonnes of coal production to strengthen fuel supply to its power stations.To meet the MOU target,NTPC Kaniha has been given a generation target of 21885 MU for FY 2019-20, the station generation till May 31,2019 is 3812 MU. with PLF of 86.81 % .The station has generated 21242 MU in 2018-19 withPLF of 80.83%.
Today’s occasion gives us an opportunity to take stock of achievement and to rededicate ourselves to face new challenges that lie ahead said Shri Ramesh.He added currently it is implementing installation of 300 kwp rooftop solar power at its township and school building complexes to promote renewable energy.All the five units (except Unit 4) of station units have undergone ESP R&M to meet the environment guidelines set by Government.
On station CSR , he added “this year the station has started a special CSR initiative “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) from May 20, 2019 to June 16, 2019.The workshop is meant for empowerment of girls shall be conducted four-week residential workshop for 120 students for girls between 10 to 12 years old selected from neighboring 13 schools areas of the power station.The CSR workshop will focus on empowerment of Girl children through creating awareness on various areas like hygiene, safety, security & fitness of both physical and mental through imparting academics sessions and unique learning methods for holistic personality development. NGO “Barefoot” is coordinating the workshop”
On the occasion, Class 10 th and 12 th toppers of DAV ,Kendriya Vidyalaya and Saraswati Shishu Mandir School were felicitated for their academic excellence.To mark the occasion children of the township participated in cultural dance program which was appreciated by the august gathering. Shri N S Rao ,GM(O&M) ,Shri B Maharana ,GM(Mntc) ,Shri K K Das ,GM(Fuel Mgmt) & Senior officials were present.
