On the occasion of Utkal Day, Naveen Patnaik unveiled a bronze sculpture in memory of Mahatma Gandhi in Bellevue. The statue is part of a meeting held by Gandhi on the Kathyodi riverbed during his visit to Cuttack. Laxmidhar Rana created a beautiful bronze sculpture based on the view of the time. The statue is 4 feet wide and 12 feet high. On the occasion of the centenary of Gandhiji’s arrival in Odisha, it has been placed by the state culture department at the entrance to the city at Belvy Square. An amphitheater with a beautiful water fountain has also been set up near the Bellevue Bronze statue. The Chief Minister also attended a unveiling of a statue of Utkalmani Gopbandhu Das on Cantonment Road. Security has been beefed up ahead of the chief minister’s visit.
