Hindol, October 05, 2019: The Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model School) at Rajmohanpur, Hindol in Dhenkanal district was inaugurated today by Shri Mahesh Sahoo, Member of Parliament, Dhenkanal in presence of Smt. Seemarani Nayak, MLA, Hindol, Shri Bhumesh Chandra Behera, Collector, Dhenkanal and Shri Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel. Spread across 25000 sq. feet area, the school has been built by Tata Steel at a cost of nearly Rs 4.5 crore with modern amenities.

This is the second of the three Adarsh Vidyalayas constructed by the steel major in Dhenkanal district. While the one at Kamakhyanagar has already been handed over to the government, another one is being constructed in Odapada block.

Others present on the occasion included Shri Sudhananda Parida, District Education Officer, Shri U K Mohapatra, Sub-collector, Dhenkanal, Shri Priyaranjan Mohanata,, Chairman, Hindol Block, Smt Reena Behera, Chairperson, NAC, Hindol, Shri Manikanta Naik, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel BSL, Chief Divisional Manager, JUSCO, Odisha, Shri Arup Bhattacharyaa, etc.

Commending Tata Steel for the initiative Shri Mahesh Sahoo said, the Adarsh Vidyalaya would usher a new beginning in quality education in the area and children from the nearby villages will get education at par with urban areas.

Echoing his thoughts Smt. Seemarani Nayak said the school fulfilled a longstanding demand of the people of the area to get English medium education at their doorstep. Shri Bhumesh Chandra Behera said the district administration will ensure early commencement of classes in the school.

Thanking the community and the government for the support, Mr Chanakya Chaudhary said that Tata Steel is committed to construct 30 Adarsha Vidyalayas in Odisha, with an aim for providing quality infrastructure to the interior parts of the state and be part of the overall growth of the society. The Company has already handed over 18 schools including the present one to the government. Rest will be completed in time.

The schools equipped with almost all modern facilities and infrastructure including a dedicated computer room, furnished library, advanced laboratories, staff room, principal’s chamber, prayer and assembly point and separate washrooms for girls and boys on each floor, etc.

In order to make quality infrastructure available to students in far-flung areas in the state, in 2016, Tata Steel had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Odisha to construct 30 Adarsha Vidyalayas at an estimated cost of Rs 136 crore across the state. This initiative by the steel major is part of the Government of Odisha’s grand plan of setting up Adarsha Vidyalaya in each block in the state. Earlier 17 Adarsh Vidyalas at Danagadi, Korei, Dasarathpur, Jamadhar, Dharmasala, Baranga, Kamakhyanagar, Nayagarh, Jagannathprasad, Aska, Buguda, Sundargarh Sadar, Bonaigarh, Tangi, Hatadih, Ghasipura and Bhanjanagar built by Tata Steel, were handed over to the state government.
