NTPC Talcher Kaniha from 16th April 2021 under CSR initiative has undertaken to provide clean drinking water to its 23 peripheral villages fulfilling the requirement of adequate drinking water for the villages around the station in view of the rise in temperature and scarcity of safe drinking water in summer season as water resources dry up.
The Station is supplying 3 months of drinking water during summer season through 7 tankers, supplying 2.5-3.0 lakh liters per day. This is given at the request of local administration to ensure the supply of clean drinking water in the peak summer months when shortage of ground water level during summer season for households can become a concern.
Catering to the health and hygiene needs of people in surrounding areas of the Plant is one of the key focus areas for CSR activities of NTPC Talcher Kaniha, the potable water provided by NTPC is fit for consumption and will also lead to a reduction in the risk of any water-borne disease in these areas.
