NTPC Talcher Kaniha provides capacity building training under RAA

With the aim to promote and encourage students in learning Science and Mathematics, NTPC Talcher Kaniha is providing capacity building training workshops for Science and Mathematics Teachers of Govt. Elementary Schools in Odisha. This program is being implemented under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) under the station’s CSR initiative Under the initiative, a workshop was organised recently to provide training to teachers who after undergoing training would impart best practices to the student of schools.The two-day workshop was attended by 20 school teachers. 

Under this initiative, 10 identified government schools of Kaniha i.e Kansamunda UPS(Upper Primary School) , Pabitramohan High School,Tolakbeda UPS, Bijigol NUPS(Upper Primary School) ,Dandasingha UPS,Gadasila UPS,Jarada NUPS,Dumduma NUPS,Balangi UPS & Hariharapur UGHS(Upgraded High Scool) .These schools are set to be equipped with smart learning classes with audio-visual system, powered by solar technology.

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri P.M.G.V Srinivas, AGM (RLI) and Shri Jakir Khan, DGM (HR) who spoke about the advantages of “learning by doing” method of teaching as opposed to the traditional “chalk and talk” method.

The primary objective of this program is to strengthen learning areas by providing e-learning kits comprising of video animations and videos which make school learning more interactive. To equip teachers,adequate training is subsequently being provided by a team from IIT Kanpur. Various sessions were conducted by Prof G.C Nanda, Dean, School of Social Sciences, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Shri Anurag Pandey, Alumni ,IIT Kanpur  and representatives of UNISED.
