Emergency Mock Drill on Ammonia Gas Leakage at JSPL

ANGUL(NEWS TIME PRO):

Under the guidance of District Crisis Group Angul, constituted by The Office of The Collector & District Magistrate Angul, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL), conducted a full scale emergency mock drill in Coal Gasification Plant on heavy leakage of ammonia gas on Tuesday. The mock drill was witnessed by Assistant Director of Factories and Boiler Mr. Umakant Samantaray and senior officers from district fire office, representatives from nearby industries like NALCO, Bhushan, NTPC, Amritesh Industries, Ganesh Sponge, Spectrum Industries, Global Industries, ABC India, JITPL, Aryan, etc.

This full scale mock drill exercise was started with an opening meeting where JSPL’s Group Safety Head Mr. Ravi Kant Somani, welcomed the representatives and explained about the objective of such full scale emergency preparedness.  Mr. A.N. Tiwari, Plant Head-Coal Gasification Plant (CGP), gave a presentation on CGP operation and emergency preparedness plan to tackle any such issue.

Mr. Samantaray and all participants congratulated JSPL for conducting a successful mock drill and appreciated the efficiency and effectiveness shown by JSPL’s emergency teams including fire brigade, quick response team, rescue team, ambulance services and plant personnel during the emergency mitigation process.

JSPL’s Chief Operating Officer Mr. Pankaj Gautam, appreciated the contribution of all participants for their valuable time and observations, conveyed his thanks to all for such a successful mock drill and instructed his team to take immediate action on the observations reported. The drill was concluded with a closing meeting where designated observers and other participants shared their valuable comments.
