NTPC Kaniha celebrates 34th Raising Day

NTPC Talcher Kaniha, the second largest power station of the country with installed capacity of 3010 MW, celebrated it’s 34th Raising Day on 2 June, 2022. 

The impeccable journey of Talcher Kaniha started on June 2, 1989, as the then Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi had laid the foundation stone of the station. 

The historic occasion was commemorated by Shri K Srinivasa Rao, Executive Director, NTPC Kaniha unfurling the NTPC flag at Administrative building premises followed by NTPC Geet. Shri K S Rao paid tribute at the site of the foundation stone, along with senior officials.

The Raising Day was celebrated with a cultural evening, with scintillating musical and dance performances. Shri Ashim Kumar Goswami, RED ER-II joined NTPC Kaniha virtually on this occasion. The guests of honour Ex-ED Shri Bisikeshan Pradhan and Smt Jaya Shree Pradhan, Shri Venkata Ravi, Safety Advisor, NTPC, G S Rao, DGM(Finance), NTPC, Shri Sadhu Charan Tripathy,  the oldest serving employee of Kaniha were felicitated, for their contribution in the success of NTPC Kaniha.

In his address Shri K S Rao outlines various achievements of the station and underlined the fact that the station has ranked first in Annual PLF (93.76 %) ranking among all NTPC stations, in the current financial year (till may 22 end). 

He also remarked that 2022 marks  a historic 25 years of commercial operation of NTPC Kaniha, since its Unit 1 was declared under commercial operation on 1 January 1997.

Shri K S Rao highlighted NTPC’s flagship CSR initiative the “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), which has been running successfully since May 19 and will go on till June 16, 2022. NTPC Kaniha is currently hosting 110 girl children, full of potential from neighboring schools, at the Kendriya Vidyalaya School. The workshop focuses on empowering girl children to realise their dreams. 

Shri Rao also outlined the initiatives taken in NTPC Kaniha on the O&M, environment and ash utilization front and thanked all unions and associations, welfare bodies and Tanvi Sangam Ladies Club for their constant support and feedback.  

He also thanked the entire Kaniha fraternity and District Administration with whose support Kaniha runs smoothly. 

Shri Goswami also addressed the Kaniha fraternity and credited the leadership of Shri K S Rao, for shaping Kaniha into one of the best stations of NTPC.  He congratulated the entire Kaniha fraternity for their contributions to NTPC.
