Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM), located in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha, has been conferred with the Indian Institute of Metal ( IIM) National Sustainability Award: Iron & Steel 2020-21 in the category of casting and forging operations.
Mr. Subodh Pandey, Vice President, Operations, TSM, received the award during the virtual ceremony organised by the IIM Jamshedpur and Kolkata Chapters and Tata Steel Ltd. This award is a recognition of TSM’s commitment to quality and excellence in all areas of operations.
Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Mr Pradip Kumar Tripathi along with Mr Sudhansu Pathak (Chairman, COC), Ms Rasika Chaube (Additional Secretary, Ministry of Steel), Mr T V Narendran, President, IIM and CEO and MD, Tata Steel, Mr S V Kamat, Vice President, IIM, Dr Tanmay Bhattacharyya (Convener, COC, IIM ATM 2021 and Mr Kushal Saha, Secretary-General, IIM, graced the occasion.
Instituted in 1991 by the Ferrous Division of IIM, the award is conferred annually on November 14, observed as National Metallurgists’ Day, to encourage the quality control aspects in the steel sector. The National Metallurgists’ Day is a tribute to the important role played by metallurgists in the economic development and industrialisation of India.
