Production at the TTPS in Talcher came to a standstill this morning. As the issue of closure of the plant was raised in the Assembly today, a policy decision has been taken to set up another TTPS unit. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said that a policy decision has been taken to set up a new TTPS unit in Talcher. A similar meeting will be held soon with Griddo, NTPC, Energy and other relevant departments. Specific action plans will be drawn up for the establishment of new units and the immediate resolution of grievances of local residents. The state government will provide all possible assistance. Gurudip Singh, Chairman, National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd., and Mr. Mohapatra, Chief Secretary, discussed the establishment of a new unit at TTPS, various grievances and problems of the locals.
